"Afrikaanse hoephoep"    
A well-known orange-brown garden bird. The wings and tail are black with white bands (conspicuous in flight), The characteristic long crest is usually folded down, but prefers wooded areas. Probes with its long slender bill in the soil for food. Its fight is like that of a butterfly. Breeds in a cariety of holes and niches in the ground or in tree trunks.
 
Habitat    

These birds occur in a variety of habitats. Towns, cities, gardens, trees and thickets.

 
Food    
Insects and other terrestrial invertebrates.
