The crimson underparts and the white wingbar on the black upperparts make this bird unmistakable. The immature has grey underparts. Most common in the drier west where it prefers areas with thorn trees. Runs around like a thrush. Usually forages on the ground, but also in trees. Pairs often call in duet and are more often heard than seen. A fairly secretive but inquisitive bird. |
