| A very small kingfisher with a red bill. The overall colour pattern is similar to that of the Malachite Kingfiser, but the eyebrow is orange and the ear patches purple. The immture has a black bill. Unlike the Malachite Kingfisher, this is a bushveld bird which is usually found away from water. erches unobtrusively on a low perch and swoops down to the ground to catch prey. |
