Waterbuck prefer areas near water, such as rivers and dry floodplains. They are never found far from water. They will also take up residence in areas where only artificial waterholes are present and will leave these areas if the waterholes are shut down
Food preference
Waterbuck are predominantly grazers. Grasses that are utilised include Cynodon dactylon, Themeda triandra, Panicum mazimum, Heteropogon contortus, Digitaria eriantha and Diheteropodon amplectens
Water requirements
Waterbuck are water dependent and utilise approximately 9 litres per day.
